PROGRAMS

outreach and other educational programs

BYCC offers classes and workshops exploring subjects ranging from the historical to the practical to the philosophical. Students come from all segments of the Jewish community—secular and religious alike. Under the scholarship of Rabbi Schmuel and Shaina Attal, BYCC members learn to love Judaism and love to learn Judaism. In addition to these popular classes, BYCC's lecture series will feature prominent speakers, who promise to enlighten and entertain.

Below, please learn about some of our current programs and activities. We'll be including more programming options over time, so please check in through social media or sign up for our weekly newsletter!

Used by the Israeli Defense Forces, Mossad, and other law enforcement agencies, it encourages efficiency and broader awareness skills when engaged in a conflict. In addition to classes for children 3 years old and up, we offer a class for women (ages 12 and up) interested in building up their special defensive skills.  Contact us at 702-901-7963 to learn more.

Cartooning

Comics began as a distinctly Jewish enterprise in the bustle of New York City. Now, the trade has grown from Superman serials to graphic novels like Art Spiegelman's Maus, which won a Pulitzer in 1992. We are so excited to welcome children to an exciting journey where they'll learn about creating a story, complete with their illustrations. Contact us at 702-901-7963 to learn more.

Art

For children ages 6 to 11, we provide special art projects. They'll learn about different techniques and create some beautiful works of art that could be your family's next conversation piece. Contact us at 702-901-7963 to learn more about class dates, times, and fees.

Mama and Baby

This class for mothers and their infants is a special opportunity to be part of a community. We focus on educational group activities (grounded in art, music, or exercise) that mothers do along with their babies. This play group provides your child with an opportunity to socialize, as mothers discuss their hopes, worries, and joys with each other. This therapy time has proven to be a deterrent against maternal depression like postpartum. Contact us at 702-901-7963 to learn more about class dates, times, and fees.

OUTREACH

Our community is also dedicated to bringing the joys of our tradition to the community through our creative outreach programs. Our community menorah lighting on the stage of Circus-Circus Las Vegas is a highlight that many look forward to all year. We are also committed to continuing friendly 'house calls' to help members interested in kashering their kitchens or putting a mezuzah on the doorpost of their home.

The Summerlin Jewish community will flourish through our outreach and other programming that welcomes Jews from all walks of life to a home for reflection, study, and friendship.
